The Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum and mop robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detector) are a plus.

Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot automatic vacuum and mop/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot hoover and mop that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, although it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty those areas are.

If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
