UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles for upvc windows on your doors will get worn out and will require replacement. It is important to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

The three measurements you need to examine are the top screw's position, lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to help you.

Inline Lever/Lever

The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made from robust materials, and are ideal for doors with multiple points that require a robust design. The handles are inline and use the same screws and spindle to secure them. They can be easily installed on a new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to suit the needs of all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, which helps to ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames where the cylinder is located further back. A shorter lever can be used for doors that have a latch which can be operated with the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently than lever handles found on most doors. These handle types are either operated by a single spindle or by two spindles inline or offset. They are usually used on UPVC double glazed doors and come in a variety of styles and finishes.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in several finishes, including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for Replacement Door Handles the intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm permit a bigger size handle that can often be a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. Once you have the proper PZ size, you'll have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you require for your doors. They are usually rectangular or round in shape with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they return to their horizontal position after not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the property. It is also the case that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are handed, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. Cylinder locks are operated by using a key that unlocks the cylinder's case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to the pins in the lock and allow them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors generally having different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is vital. It is based on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For instance, exterior doors must be secured with a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that increase security, such as anti drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured accurately to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the other end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you cannot measure with the lock in position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, therefore it is crucial that it's not too long.

The majority of modern cylinders have been made with bump and anti-drill features included in their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This helps stop the attack and ensure your doors are secure.

Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is attacked with a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which can hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated in the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their original position after use. The handles had no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This simple feature is one of the best methods to correct this and it is also an excellent way to stop your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in an open or closed position, since they aren't always easy to manually close by hand.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They are not compatible with handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole in your backplate for them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes are a solution to damaged or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in a single unit. They have a square-cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
