For really tricky surfaces, look out for models with air-filled tyres which are also referred to as pneumatic tyres. These are made to handle roads that are not paved and can deal with rocks, mud, and so on. Older babies and toddlers will appreciate the spacious and padded seat unit with adjustable ventilation. The seats don't recline fully, but they can be lowered to the lowest point. This should allow your child to have plenty of space and headroom.

A sling made of fabric is also available. It's a benefit that it is located inside the frame, instead of being placed on top of it as a modular seat. This creates a lower center of gravity and a perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier and lighter to push, particularly over bumpy terrains or curbs and MFM reviewer Kath really liked the way that this style of seat dealt with these obstacles.

This type of buggy comes with an enormous basket, along with other features that are useful like an extended hood with 50+ UV protection, an easy to use brake pedal, and a few innovative lights for visibility that can be positioned in front of the occupants to increase safety on rough terrain.

Storage

The 3-wheeled model is more stable and can be pushed with one hand. It's also more suitable for terrain that is difficult. The shopping basket is smaller than a 4-wheeler.

A top-quality ATP will have excellent suspension, pneumatic tyres and padding for the handle for your ease. It should also be equipped to carry a carrycot and car seat which means you can use it from birth.

MFM's reviewers discovered that the 3-wheeler frame didn't fit through their home doors or car boot. If you're worried about space, make sure to verify the dimensions when the buggy is folded before purchasing.

Find a 3-wheeler that has 2 (or 3!) seats. seats once your family grows. They are the most efficient of both and future proof your money. The iCandy strawberry sport is one of the most popular and can be used as a single seat from day dot and then converts into twin buggies once your baby starts walking.

Tyres

These tyres cushion bumps and uneven surfaces to make your child's ride more enjoyable. They're commonly found on pushchairs, such as the Phil and Ted's Sport which MFM reviewer Kath found to offer "an outstanding ride for my toddler". She also mentioned that the grippy tyres on the Phil & Ted's Sport made it easy for her to navigate the kerbs and other obstacles.

These tyres can sometimes prove difficult to maintain and must be replenished regularly. They are also more vulnerable to punctures than foam tyres, so you'll need to make sure that you have a repair kit along with a spare inner tube and pump in case you go traveling with your buggy.

PU tyres are found on more pushchairs than the air-filled tyres but they're just as sturdy. You can recognise PU tires by their smooth appearance and soft texture. They also slide across smooth and tidy surfaces.

You can usually tell the distinction between air-filled and PU tires by running your hands over each one, if it feels hard then it's a rubber tyre, and If it slides, then it's a PU. You can also check whether your buggy is equipped with PU tyres by sliding them across a flat, clean surface. They should roll easily and fit snugly into wheel hubs.

Foam tyres can handle the rough terrain of high-performance buggies. This could make your buggy less stable since the foam loses its springy quality. These tyres are also noisy due to the fact that they create a lot noise when you turn and drive around town.
